MCCC Men's Tennis Competes at First Ever DII National Tournament

MCCC Men’s Tennis finished in 16th place in their first ever NJCAA National Tournament at the Division II level. Two Mercer players reached the Consolation finals. Freshman Joe Zemaitis (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick HS) won two backdraw matches to reach the 1st Singles Consolation final and freshman Dylan Stemmer (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) reached the 5th Singles Consolation finals. Freshmen brothers Adeleke and Adegoke Oni (Baltimore, MD) won their Quarterfinal Consolation match to give Mercer five wins in the National Championship.
With six new players this year Head Coach Andy Stoll was not sure what to expect but was proud of how the players improved throughout the season. “Joe and Dylan were playing their best tennis at the Region and National Tournament and I look forward to seeing what they can do next year. We were not sure what to expect at the Division II level and ran into some very good opponents, but competed and won some backdraw matches. It was a great experience and first trip to the DII Nationals for these young players.”
