For the second time this season MCCC men’s soccer sophomore Jesse Van Den Berg (Rhoon, Netherlands/Portus Groene Hart) has been named the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Player of the Week for the week of October 4th-10th.
Van Den Berg had another dominant offensive performance, recording two goals and four assists in Mercer's 6-2 victory over Berkeley College on October 10. Van Den Berg played a role in all six of the Mustangs' goals, either finding the back of the net himself or setting up his teammates. His eight-point performance showcased his exceptional playmaking ability, offensive awareness, and versatility as one of the region's most dangerous attacking players.
Earlier in the week, Mercer battled nationally ranked No. 15 Essex County College to a 1-1 draw on October 7, highlighting the Mustangs' ability to compete against top Division II competition. Van Den Berg continues to lead Mercer's offensive attack and remains among the regional and national leaders in goals and points. His consistency and ability to create scoring opportunities have been instrumental in the Mustangs' success this season.
