MCCC Men’s Soccer goalie Aaron Daniel was named the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for October 4th-10th.
Daniel stepped into a critical role for Mercer County Community College and delivered an impressive performance against nationally ranked No. 15 Essex County College. Filling in for injured starting goalkeeper Yushi Ando, Daniel rose to the occasion, recording five saves in Mercer's hard-fought 1-1 draw against its conference rival on October 7th.
Daniel made several crucial stops throughout the contest, including two outstanding saves late in the second half that preserved the tie and prevented Essex from securing the victory. His composure, positioning, and ability to perform under pressure were instrumental in holding one of the nation's top-ranked Division II programs to just one goal.
Across 160 minutes of action during the week, Daniel recorded five saves and allowed three goals, finishing with a 1-0-1 record as Mercer remained unbeaten in its two contests. Daniel's ability to step into the starting role and deliver in a high-pressure matchup demonstrated his readiness and importance to the Mustangs' defensive unit.
