Former MCCC Men's Soccer Stars Reunite in Texas

 

Mercer’s three All-Region players from the 2023 All-Region team took their talents to a new college and remained together as they are teammates on Nelson University’s 2024 men’s soccer team.  Dillon Du Toit, Omolemo Matla and Teddy Nkamanyi are members of the 4-0-4 NAIA team in Waxahachie, Texas.

 

Du Toit, Matla and Nkamanyi all earned All-Region 19 honors last fall at MCCC.

 

At the 2023 Region 19 Championship, Du Toit was named the Region Tournament Defensive MVP, while Nkamanyi was named the Region Tournament Offensive MVP.

 

Du Toit and Matla also served on MCCC Athletics’ first SALC, Student Athlete Leadership Council.

 

Nkamanyi has three goals in six games for Nelson University and Du Toit has one assist in six games.  Du Toit was a two-time All-Region selection at MCCC. Nkamanyi scored 27 goals for the Vikings in two seasons.  Matla had seven assists over two seasons for the Vikings.

 

Du Toit, Matla and Nkamanyi helped lead the Vikings to the Region 19 Championship in 2023. Mercer advanced to the Northeast District Championship and fell one game short of reaching the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
