Sophomore men’s soccer player Deniz Karcher (Heindenheim, Germany/Max Planck Gymnasium) earned NJCAA Division II National All-Tournament Team honors following Mercer’s run to the National Semifinals. Karcher was one of twelve players to earn this honor. Karcher had a goal in Mercer’s 2-1 opening win vs Pellissippi State and also scored in MCCC’s 3-0 win vs Neosho County at the National Tournament. The sophomore forward finished his final games on a very high note, scoring four of his seven goals in his last four games.
Karcher’s strong offensive play helped Mercer advance to the National Semifinals following two wins in the National Tournament. Mercer battled CCBC Essex to a scoreless tie after regulation and double overtime, but the Knights advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks. MCCC finished the season 19-0-2.
