Mercer men’s lacrosse will be hosting the Region 19 Semifinals Monday, April 22nd at 4:00 PM. The Vikings will be facing Sussex CCC for a chance to advance to the Region 19 Championship on Wednesday, April 24th at Del Tech.
Following a big 16-10 win last week vs Sussex, the Vikings put themselves in position to host the Semifinal game.
The Vikings have been lead offensively by sophomore faceoff specialist Izzy Miranda (Tampa, FL/Tampa Catholic) who has picked up 89 groundballs this season, which is second best in the nation and has won 107 faceoffs, which is fourth best in the country. Miranda also has five goals and three assists.
Sophomore attacker Braden Travaglini (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) has 17 goals and 11 assists this spring and leads the Vikings with 17 points. Freshman attacker Owen McAdams (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) has eleven goals on the season, including five in the Vikings’ 16-10 win vs Sussex last week. Freshman attacker Ashani Harvey (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Calabar HS) has also been a strong presence offensively for the Vikings, scoring eight goals this spring.
On the defensive side, the Vikings have been lead by freshman goalie Trevor Malik (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) who has 119 saves this season, fifth best in the nation and has kept the Vikings in many games with his saves between the pipes.
Freshman defender and long stick midfielder Liam Halloran (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) has helped anchor the Vikings defense and has picked up eight ground balls.
The Vikings advanced to the Region 19 Championship last spring and will look to do the same when they host Sussex this Monday at 4:00 PM.
