Men's Basketball Loses to Orange in District Championship

 3/10/26

Mercer men’s basketball season came to an end following a 102-81 loss vs SUNY Orange in the District Championship on March 7th.  A combination of hot shooting from Orange and dominant defense led to Mercer falling just short of reaching their first National Tournament in sixteen years.

Orange shot 57% from the field and 42% from three-point range.  Due to the Colts defense, MCCC was limited to shooting just 39% from the field and 33% from three-point range.  The Mustangs were also outrebounded 32 to 29.

Mercer’s two First Team All-Region performers had strong final games with Joell Idrovo scoring 24 points and Torren Greene finishing with 23 points.

MCCC finishes the season 20-12 with their first Region Championship since 2010.  In a season that started 0-8, the loss in the District Championship is disappointing, but marks the culmination of an incredible turnaround for the team.
