MCCC Student Athletes Honored at Academic Achievement Night

Mercer basketball also hosted Academic Achievement Night on Thursday, February 5^th.  The night recognized all student athletes who earned All-Academic honors for the Fall 2025 semester.  Returning student athletes who were NJCAA Academic All-Americans were also recognized at halftime of the men’s basketball game. 

Dr. Preston and members of MCCC’s Leadership Team attended the night and Mercer’s athletic teams packed the stands for the night.  All student athletes who earned All-Region and All-Conference All-Academic honors for the Fall 2025 semester were recognized.  To earn All-Region All-Academic honors, student athletes needed a GPA of 3.2 or higher for the fall semester.  Those earning All-Conference All-Academic honors.

Any returning student athletes who earned NJCAA All-Academic All-American honors for the 2024-2025 academic year were also recognized at halftime.  A record thirty individual student athletes were Academic All-Americans for earning at least 24 credits with a GPA of 3.6 or higher for the 2024-2025 academic year. 

Another record was that four teams were NJCAA Academic All-American teams.  To earn this distinction teams had to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2024-2025 academic year with every players’ GPA calculated.  Men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s tennis were NJCAA All-Academic teams.

Athletic Director Eric Grundman discussed the importance of this recognition night.  “We always call our athletes student athletes, not just athletes.  Their performance in the classroom is more important than how they do on the court and field.  To have this many student athletes earn All-Academic honors on top of the success our athletic teams had is incredible and a real testament to the dedication and commitment of our student athletes.
