The 2024-2025 year proved to be one of, if not, the most successful ever for Mercer County Community College. The Vikings won five Region 19 titles. Men’s and women’s soccer won Region titles in the fall, men’s lacrosse, men’s tennis, and softball all won Region titles in the spring. Four MCCC teams advanced to the NJCAA National Championship: men’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis. All nine of Mercer’s teams qualified for the postseason. Two teams were District Champions: men’s soccer and softball.
Six MCCC athletes earned NJCAA All-American honors: Joao Delgado from men’s soccer and Peyton Miller, Marcin Gniadzik, Michael Satawa, Jake Tavel and Boris Espinoza from men’s tennis. Mercer had four National Champions: Peyton Miller at 1st Singles, Marcin Gniadzik at 4th Singles and Gniadzik and Tavel at 2nd Doubles. Miller became the fourth men’s tennis player in MCCC program history to win the national title at 1st Singles.
Four Mercer athletes were named Region Player of the Year: Joao Delgado in men’s soccer, Eva Sturm in women’s soccer, Collin Williams was named the Baseball Pitcher of the Year and Nathan Bialy was the Region Offensive Player of the Year. Mercer also had six coaches named Region Coach of the Year: Ron Stinson women’s soccer, Widmarc Dalce men’s soccer, Matt Davies men’s lacrosse, Ryan Zegarski softball, Russ Stupienski baseball and Andy Stoll men’s tennis.
Five of Mercer’s teams earned national rankings during their season including men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s basketball, baseball and softball. (Men’s and women’s tennis do not have national polls.) Men’s tennis tied their best finish ever at the Division III National Championship, finishing as National Runner-Ups. Women’s tennis had their highest finish ever at the NJCAA Division I National Championship. Women’s soccer earned their first ever ranking as a Division II program. Softball finished the 2025 season with the most wins in program history with 43. In the fall, women’s soccer got Mercer’s 500th win in program history.
Thirty-three MCCC athletes earned All-Region 19 honors for 2024-2025. Men’s soccer had three players: Nassim Carpio, Joao Delgado and Lesedi Hlabeli. Women’s soccer had four All-Region players: Fiona Madigan, Annika Maringer, Laura Kucharz and Eva Sturm. Men’s basketball players Jayson Love and Joell Idrovo earned All-Region honors and women’s basketball player Gabby Ross was named All-Region 19. Softball players Stella Logan, Makenna Spak, Jozalyn Sheipe-Warthen, Kelci O’Dell and Emily Wyzykowski were named All-Region 19. Baseball players Jordan Raba, Collin Williams, Jake Pope, Shaniel Maldonado, Owen Friddell and Joey Socorro and earned All-Region honors. Six lacrosse players were named All-Region 19: Nathan Bialy, JP Claffey, Nolan Halloran, Trevor Malik, Owen McAdams and Mason Cloyd. Men’s tennis players Peyton Miller, Jake Tavel, Santiago Maura, Marcin Gniadzik, Michael Satawa and Boris Espinoza earned All-Region 19 honors.
These are just the athletic achievements of our students this year. We will also be highlighting the academic success of our student athletes this year including All-Conference Academic total for both fall and spring, NJCAA Academic All-Americans and student athlete graduates.
