The Success of Women's Sports at Mercer

In honor of Women’s Equality Day which was on August 26th, we’ll look at the opportunities Mercer has to offer female students and the success of its women student athletes.  Women’s Equality Day celebrates the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.  The day also recognizes the achievements and progress of women towards gender equality.

Women’s tennis had their highest finish ever at the NJCAA Division I National Championship.  Women’s soccer earned their first ever ranking as a Division II program.  Softball finished the 2025 season with the most wins in program history with 43.  Softball were Region and District Champions and advanced to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.  Women’s soccer won the Region 19 Championship and were one win away from advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.  All four of Mercer’s women’s sports teams qualified for the post season in 2024-2025.  Three women’s teams earned national rankings: basketball, soccer and softball.

Mercer’s women’s sports teams won 79 games and matches and had a 81% winning percentage.  Eleven female student athletes earned NJCAA All-Academic Team honor for having a GPA of 3.60 or higher and earning 24 or more credits during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Mercer County Community College Athletic Department is proud to offer four sports for women to participate in allows women to have success on and off the court and field.  Sports teaches women life lessons such as developing leadership and confidence, handling adversity and teamwork and is such a special opportunity unlike anything else on campus.
