Women's Soccer Player Madigan Named GSAC Player of the Week

Women’s soccer player Fiona Madigan (Dublin, Ireland/Fingal Community College) has been named the GSAC (Garden State Athletic Conference) Player of the Week for October 2nd-8th. The freshman defender continues to anchor Mercer’s defense and helped hold the Vikings opponent scoreless for a third straight game following a 0-0 tie at RCSJ Cumberland. Madigan has been the Vikings central defender. Head Coach Ron Stinson says Madigan “is very difficult to beat in 1 v 1 situations, always plays relaxed and helps set the tone for the team.” In a 11-0 win vs Lackawanna, Madigan moved from defense to striker and had a hat trick. Madigan’s versatility and calm, but tough presence in the backfield have led Mercer’s defense and kept them in every game this season.
