WEST WINDSOR – The Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Foundation will host its 34th Annual Golf Classic for Scholarships on Monday, October 6. The tournament will take place at Trenton Country Club in West Trenton, NJ. Friends and supporters of Mercer Athletics will tee off with a shotgun start at 10 am following registration and breakfast starting at 9 am. The day will conclude with an awards lunch at 3 pm. As in past tournaments, Haldeman Auto Group is the event’s lead sponsor.
“This day is a celebration of our student athletes,” said Erica Oliver, Executive Director of the MCCC Foundation. “It is about coming together as a community to provide opportunities for MCCC students to learn and grow both in the classroom and on the field/court. With special thanks to the dedication and generosity of our supporters, our student athletes have access to the highest quality education and sports programs in the area.”
MCCC Foundation’s First Vice Chair Tom Onder (Stark & Stark) and friend of the College, Jack Manousos (owner of Killarney’s Publick House in Hamilton) are proudly co-chairing the event this year. “When community members like Tom and Jack devote their time and resources to support the future of our student athletes, that is what it truly means to come together,” said Eric Grundman, MCCC Athletic Director. “The result is students having life-changing opportunities.”
MCCC athletic teams have a long history of success in National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region 19 and national tournaments, with 2024-2025 proving to be one of, if not, the most celebrated. Winning five Region 19 titles (men’s and women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, men’s tennis, and softball), and two district championships (men’s soccer, and softball), four Mercer athletes were also named Region Player of the Year, 30 student-athletes were named Academic All-Americans, four teams earned Academic All-America Team honors, and six coaches were named Region Coach of the Year. In total, 33 athletes earned All-Region 19 honors!
The tournament committee continues to welcome corporate sponsorships and monetary donations. The deadline to register is Friday, September 19th Mercer County Community College. More information is available at www.mccc.edu/golf.
