March 5^th is Reel Film Day, which celebrates fims with screenings and showcase events.  In honor of this day, we are going to highlight one of MCCC’s unique majors, Digital Film and a few of our student athletes in this program.

 

Sophomore men’s lacrosse players Theo DeBerghes (Howell, NJ/Howell HS) and Braden Travaglini (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) are both Digital Film majors.  DeBerghes earned All-Region honors as a defender in the 2022 season.  Deberghes won 75 ground balls that season, which was fifth best in the nation.  Travaglini earned All-Region honors in the 2023 season as a midfielder and scored 16 goals last spring.

 

Students in the Digital Film major at MCCC explore film history, theory and criticism and are trained in all aspects of new media technologies.  Digital Film major students learn all aspects of digital film including directing, producing, editing, cinematography, and screenwriting and leave MCCC prepared for careers in the highly competitive film industry.

 

Other goals of students in Mercer’s Digital Film major include: writing, producing, directing, and editing a variety of digital film productions; achieving entry-level professional for positions in commercial or film productions; applying narrative structures in the development of short films; choosing and analyzing scripts; evaluating auditioning talent; directing actors to illustrate dramatic action and character; designing and implementing lighting design; evaluating film scripts and select appropriate camera lenses for storytelling; and assembling production teams to work on short films.

 

All-Region performers and Digital Film majors DeBerghes and Travaglini will look to lead MCCC men’s lacrosse this spring as they open up the 2024 season on Friday, March 1^st vs Hudson Valley CC.
