Mercer Athletics Mourns Loss of Former Baseball Player Irvin


The MCCC Athletic Department and College Community mourn the loss of former baseball player Sam Irvin (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington). Irvin joined the Mansfield Township Police Department two weeks ago. Irvin passed away suddenly following routine training last weekend.

Irvin played for the Vikings for two seasons, 2019 and 2021. The right handed pitcher graduated in May 2020 with a degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement.  Irvin earned NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Academic All-American Honors in 2020.

After his time at MCCC, Irvin went on to earn his BA in Criminal Justice from Wilmington University.  Irvin graduated from the Gloucester County Police Academy this past July before starting with the Mansfield Township Police Department.

Irvin leaves behind his fiancée Kenzie Santucci who is expecting the couple’s first child.  The Vikings family sends their condolescences to Irvin's family and friends.
