1-2 Loss (2 OT)

10/21/13

West Windsor, NJ -

Mercer men's soccer (8-7-2) lost in heartbreaking fashion aganist visiting Middlesex 1-2 in double overtime.  Middlesex scored the first goal of the game with 10 minutes left in the second half, but Mercer was able to tie the game with 5 minutes left when freshman Valdo Jean-Baptiste (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Daylight/Twilight) headed in a Robert Bednar (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) cross.  After a scoreless first overtime, it looked like the game was going to end in a tie when Mercer goalkeeper Jo-Wayne Butler blocked a Middlesex shot with 3 seconds left on the clock, but Middlesex's Ajhaji Sheriff followed the blocked shot off Butler's hand and slipped the ball past Butler with just about one second left on the clock to win the game for Middlesex.
