Two Versions of the Cherished Holiday Story of "The Nutcracker" Come to MCCC's Kelsey Theatre in December

West Windsor, N.J – Audiences will enjoy the music and dance of the holiday season with two holiday productions coming to the stage at Mercer County Community College in December.  Alborada, New Jersey’s premier Spanish dance theater company, and the New Jersey Youth Ballet will both perform variations of the holiday classic “The Nutcracker.”  Both shows take place at Kelsey Theatre, located on the college’s West Windsor campus, at 1200 Old Trenton Road.

The magic of the season begins with Alborada’s “El Sueno: A Cultural Holiday Celebration.”  Dates and times for this production are Friday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 and 8 p.m.  A special daytime performance for groups will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, at 11:15 a.m.

Alborada brings audiences a holiday family feast for the eyes and ears with this unique Spanish adaptation of “The Nutcracker.”  The story begins with the Three Kings Day fiesta in a Spanish plaza, where Clarita receives a gift of a Matador doll.  After the celebration she falls asleep and dreams of her doll coming to life to fight the Toro King, after which he whisks her away to the Land of the Majas.

Alborada’s widely-acclaimed professional dancers and talented young artists provide an unforgettable entertainment experience for all ages.
