MCCC's PTA Program Coordinator Barbara Behrens Represents New Jersey at National Conference

West Windsor, N.J. - Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Coordinator Barbara Behrens was appointed by the NJ State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners to represent New Jersey at the Annual Meeting of the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) in Indianapolis, IN in September.

This three-day meeting dealt with regulatory issues that face physical therapy licensing boards across the nation and changes in the National Physical Therapy Examination, the licensure exam that will take effect in 2013.

According to Behrens, the meeting was highly informative and invigorating, with individuals from across the nation and "across the pond" attending.

One of the speakers, who traveled to the conference from Ireland, addressed issues of international license portability from her perspective as the President of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy.

The FSBPT has six main areas of focus: examinations, to ensure ongoing excellence; membership, and responding to members’ needs; identifying and promoting effective regulation in physical therapy while respecting state rights; providing and promoting educational programs and products for board members; broadening the Federation’s leadership role in the community; and ensuring the long-term organizational and financial stability of the organization.  More information on FSBPT can be found here.
