MCTV Wins Videographer Award

For the second consecutive year, MCTV has won a national award for its live coverage of the 2007 Mercer County High School Basketball Championships.

The annual doubleheader, which features the girls’ and boys’ championships, won a 2007 Videographer Award of Distinction.  The broadcast is MCTV’s largest student production, this year enlisting a crew of 18 students with two announcers and two engineers.   Mercer Professor Steve Voorhees organizes the production, serving as the Executive Producer.

MCCC Students Rob Liedtka of Hamilton, Nick Donnoli of Hamilton and Wilson Garcia of East Windsor produced the event while JJ Leaver of Robbinsville and Jennifer Leigh of Hamilton directed.  Former Mercer Coach Benjamin Stentz of Ewing led the broadcast team with play-by-play along side former Rutgers Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bannon’s analysis.

The Videographer Awards is an international awards program directed by communication professionals to honor talented individuals and companies in the video production field. There were over 2,000 entries from the United States and several countries with only 17 percent winning the Award of Distinction. The Videographer Awards is designed to identify communication professionals who are raising the standards of the industry and to give winners and their clients the recognition that the work they are producing is outstanding and highly regarded by their peers.

MCTV is the cable station of Mercer County Community College and has the capacity to reach over 88,000 households in and around Mercer County broadcasting on Comcast, Cablevision, and Patriot Cable channel 26.
