Dish It Out Earns Two Awards

Dish It Out, an instructional cooking program that features delicious fare from area chefs, has won an Honorable Mention from the Videographer Awards and a Finalist Recognition in the DV Awards. 

The program, which is produced and directed by Mercer County Community College television students, airs weekly on the college’s cable station, MCTV, and his hosted by Mercer Culinary Faculty Doug Fee and Teaching Assistant Frank Benowitz.

This past year the program was led by Student Director Kyle Lutz of Florence and camera operators Patrick Martin and Jackie Seitz, both of Hamilton.  Mercer Television Professor Steve Voorhees served as the program’s advisor.

The Videographer Awards is an international awards program directed by communication professionals to honor talented individuals and companies in the video production field. There were over 2,000 entries from the United States and several countries. The Videographer Awards is designed to identify communication professionals who are raising the standards of the industry and to give winners and their clients the recognition that the work they are producing is outstanding and highly regarded by their peers. The competition provides an equal chance of winning to all entrants, regardless of size and budget.

The DV Awards is a new and exciting international competition celebrating outstanding creative and technical achievements in the emerging world of digital video production.  The Awards aim to recognize smaller desktop studios, manned by a few determined and creative individuals, rather than large production houses.

Student programming began on MCTV in October of 2004 and has the capacity to reach over 88,000 households in and around Mercer County broadcasting on Comcast, Cablevision, and Patriot Cable channel 26.
