to Honor Three at Dec. 4 Community Event

WEST
WINDSOR, N.J. -- Mercer County Community College's Board of Trustees will
honor three community partners at its special community event, "Creating
the Future," on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the college's Conference Center
on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The event is free and
the public is invited.
Following
an Open House beginning at 4:30 p.m., the awards presentation will take
place at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The Alumni Leader Award will go
to Ana Berdedia of Thomas Edison State College, the Corporate Partner
Award to Cenlar FSB, and the Partner in Learning Award to Robert Wood
Johnson University Hospital Hamilton.

Ana I. Berdecia,
M.Ed. is the Senior Fellow/Director of the Center for the Positive
Development of Urban Children at the John S. Watson Institute for
Public Policy of Thomas Edison State College. The Centers
policy focus is to bridge the voices of teachers, practitioners,
and parent/guardians to policy initiatives in New Jersey that impact
the health, well-being, and educational outcomes of children and
families. Prior to joining the college, Ana served as the executive
director of the Puerto Rican Community Day Care Center, Inc. in
Trenton, New Jersey. She has extensive experience working with diverse
families and children as an administrator, program developer, trainer,
and consultant.
Ana is an adjunct
faculty member at Mercer, where she teaches Intro to Early Childhood
Education. She serves on numerous boards and committees concerned
with early childhood education and human services. She earned her
AA degree at Mercer and her BA in sociology with a minor in womens
studies and masters in education with a specialization in
early childhood from The College of New Jersey. She holds a N.J.
Standard Teaching Certificate in preschool through 3rd grade. Recently
she completed a post-graduate certificate in Infant Mental Health
from Seton Hall. She has been married for 22 years to her husband
Enrique, and they have two sons Adán, 21 and Gabriel 18.

Cenlar
FSB has utilized the services of MCCCs Center for Training
and Development since 2004. The college has provided customized
training for Cenlar employees at many levels, including training
made possible by two Department of Labor grants and Cenlars
own substantial investment for training. According to President
and CEO Gregory S. Tornquist, who will be accepting the award, the
training has resulted in more efficient service and increased productivity,
an increase in business opportunities and client retention.

in Ewing, New Jersey, Cenlar FSB is a privately owned, federally
chartered wholesale bank specializing in mortgage and HELOC subservicing
and is the leading subservicer in the country.

Robert
Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RJW Hamilton) is a vital
partner with MCCCs programs in the health professions
Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiography and Physical
Therapist Assistant.
For
many years RWJ Hamilton has provided the clinical experience sites
for Mercers students in these programs. An excellent opportunity
for Nursing students is RJW Hamiltons paid summer externship,
which provides them with invaluable hands-on experience. Many students
are currently working at RWJ Hamilton and receive tuition support
from the hospital; many Mercer graduates are members of its staff.
Accepting
the award will be RWJ Hamilton President and CEO Ellen Guarnieri.

In
addition to the awards presentations, the event will feature student performances
and exhibits, including live music by the Jazz Band, food and pastries
prepared by culinary students, videos produced by Television students,
floral displays by Horticulture students, heart healthy displays by science
students, and much more. A light buffet will be served, and MCCC's new
professional radio station, "Jazz on 2," will be broadcasting
live.
According
to MCCC President Dr. Patricia Donohue, the event will be a "living
report to the community," where visitors will see first-hand the
impressive achievements of the college's students, and learn about programs
and services.
The

alumni, community partners, representatives from businesses, governmental
