WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Mercer County Community College's Board of Trustees invites the community to "Creating the Future; Celebrating Success," a special event set for Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the college's Conference Center on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. According to MCCC president Dr. Patricia Donohue, the event will be a "living report to the community," where visitors will see first-hand the impressive achievements of the college's students, and learn about programs and services.
The college's Flight Team scored first place in the Northeast Region competition of the National Intercollegiate Flying Association, and scored third for two-year colleges in the national competition. Mercer's Television production students won several awards for their work. The year also saw the men's soccer team winning its way to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) title game, where they came in a close second. The women's softball team traveled to the NJCAA World Series for the first time since 1988. Their 38-8 record was the team's best ever. The year was also distinguished by multiple community service projects by Mercer students, including building houses and producing a video for Habitat for Humanity, and taking a chemistry "road show" to students at five elementary schools. Students also raised thousands of dollars for numerous area charities and for student scholarships, and even sent kitchen supplies to a youth program in North Africa. The college extends a special invitation to community partners, representatives from businesses, governmental organizations and area colleges, teachers, guidance counselors and parents. To
