WINDSOR, N.J. -- Mercer County Community College (MCCC) signed a
three-year agreement with Educational Testing Service (ETS) on August
29. The first such agreement between ETS and an institution of higher
education, it will enable the two organizations to work together
in developing and pilot-testing assessment and instructional solutions
for community colleges. The agreement builds upon a relationship
under which MCCC faculty, staff and students have pilot-tested several
testing instruments for ETS over the past two years.
MCCC's Acting
President Thomas N. Wilfrid has been a member of ETS's National
Community College Advisory Council since 2004. "Mercer County
Community College is delighted that ETS, the world's pre-eminent
educational testing organization, is expanding its focus on community
colleges," he said. "As learner-centered, publicly-supported
institutions, community colleges need valid, high-quality, and
affordable means of helping students gauge their motivation and
readiness for college, and for assessing student learning in particular
courses and programs. This partnership between ETS and its local
community college makes perfect sense for both organizations,
and we hope it will be the first of many such agreements between
ETS and community colleges. We recognize that our respective staffs
have much to learn from each other, and we look forward to a long
and mutually productive partnership."
