Dr.
Robin Schore Appointed Dean of Liberal Arts at MCCC

Dr. Robin
Schore has been appointed Dean of the Liberal Arts division at Mercer
County Community College. A professor of English at Mercer since
1973, Dr. Schore has chaired the English and Languages department
since 2001. He has served on numerous college committees, and has
been the advisor to the College Voice student newspaper, director
of the former Prison Education Network, chair of a task force on
student retention, and co-leader of a workshop series on human relations
and diversity. He has moderated and documented the “Master
Faculty Program,” a faculty-to-faculty discussion about teaching-related
issues and concerns.
Since 1988 Dr.
Schore has edited the Kelsey Review, the college’s acclaimed
creative writing journal whose authors are residents of the community.
For the past two years, he led the editing team for Aspirations,
a creative writing and drawing journal for local high school students.
Dr. Schore earned
his B.A. in English from the University of Vermont, and his M.A.
and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook,
specializing in Shakespeare and the Jacobean tragedians. A military
veteran, he began his teaching career in Europe and taught English
to inmates in state prisons.
