MCCC
Offers Evening Weekend College This Fall
7-16-08

WEST
WINDSOR, N.J. -- Mercer County Community College has developed an Evening
Weekend College to accommodate adult learners who work full time or
care for young children during the day. Beginning with the fall semester
on Aug. 25, the program offers associate degrees in Business Administration
and Liberal Arts that can be completed in two years by attending classes
in the evening, on weekends and online. Most courses are 15 weeks in duration,
with some seven to eight-week accelerated classes and some six-week summer
classes.
"We saw a clear need for a schedule of classes that would accommodate
students who cannot take daytime classes," said Dean of Liberal Arts
Robin Schore. "These two majors are among Mercer's most popular."
Both degree programs are designed for students who plan to transfer to
four-year colleges or universities. Mercer holds transfer agreements with
many colleges throughout the country, and dual admissions agreements with
Montclair State University , the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Penn
State Abington, Rider University, Rutgers University, Saint Peter's College,
The College of New Jersey, and Wilmington University.
The Business Administration program is designed for students who plan
to earn a business-related bachelor's degree. Admission requires a high
school diploma or its equivalent. A strong background in mathematics is
recommended. For more information, contact Student Advocate Dee Smith-Johns,
Division of Business and Technology, at johnsd@mccc.edu
or call 609.570.3449.
The Liberal Arts program prepares students to transfer in fields such
as English, history, humanities, journalism, foreign languages, pre-law,
literature, psychology, sociology, political science, philosophy and education.
Students intending to transfer to a particular college should work with
an advisor or Mercer's Transfer Services office early in their course
of study. For more information, contact Student Advocate Marge Archer,
Division of Liberal Arts, at archerm@mccc.edu
or 609.570.3268.
Mercer
County Community College offers assistance with financial
aid, free tutoring
and academic advisement.
The fall semester begins August 25.
