The "Visual Arts Student Show 2004" is exhibiting the work of talented Mercer County Community College art students of all ages at the college’s Gallery from April 26 through May 14. A free opening reception will be held on Wednesday, April 28, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

According to Gallery Curator Tricia Fagan, this year's show includes more than 180 works of fine and graphic arts in media that run the gamut from contemporary paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor and ink to a range of classic and cutting-edge photographic techniques. Sculptural designs, story boards, found-object chairs, classic drawings, collaged images, and ceramic works are also included.

Students in Mercer's Fine Arts and Graphic Arts programs study with outstanding faculty members including Mel Leipzig, Kyle Stevenson, Eric Kunsman, Terri McNichol, Michael Welliver, Paula Swisher, Mark Stockton, John Sunkiskis, Gary Ell, Yevgeniy Fiks, and Ingrid Jordan. The college offers associate degrees in fine art, illustration, ceramics/sculpture, advertising design, architecture, photography, and computer graphics.

Posters and postcards advertising the show were designed through a competition among students in the college’s advanced advertising design classes. Heather Thomann created the winning design. Seven selected poster designs will be on display as part of the exhibition.

The Gallery at MCCC is located on the West Windsor Campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Current gallery hours are Mondays 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Fridays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All exhibits are free and the public is welcome.
