TRENTON, N.J. -- Mercer County Community College's James Kerney Campus in downtown Trenton invites the public to an Open House on Wednesday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kerney Hall. The college's many programs, both credit and noncredit, will be showcased and explained. Participants will have the opportunity to talk with counselors, financial aid representatives, professors and students. The James Kerney Campus is located at North Broad and Academy Streets.

In addition to offering associate degree and credit certificate programs, the campus provides a variety of other programs to meet the needs of a diverse population, including literacy classes, GED programs, GED in Spanish, career training, English for non-native speakers, and special programs for children and teens.

Through the Career Training Institute, students of all ages can take concentrated preparation courses for careers in areas such as PC Applications, medical and legal secretarial, bookkeeping and culinary technology.

The English Language Institute provides language courses at all levels, from beginner to more advanced, for those who are not native speakers of English. Free testing, assessment and orientation sessions, conducted daily, help students to identify the right course level for them.

The college offers three programs in a "Youth College" division for children and teens that assist with academic enrichment and college preparation. These programs include Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound and SMILE/GEAR UP.
