Clinical Award Winner:
A.A.S. Candidate Enrique Ramirez Zapien ('15)

On Thursday May 21, 2015 radiography degree candidate Enrique Ramirez Zapien was presented with the Radiography Program's Clinical Instructor's Award for "outstanding student achievment in clinical education."  The award is given each year to a graduating radiography student who achieves the highest ranking based on several measures.  These include overall clinical progress, attendance and punctuality, and competency attainment.

From left to right: Dean Linda Scherr, Prof. Sandra Kerr, Mr. Enrique Ramirez Zapien, Vice Pres. Eun-Woo Chang and Pres. Patricia Donohue.  Enrique will complete degree requirements and become eligible to sit for the national certification examination in radiography (A.R.R.T.) in July 2015.

The award had been sponsored by Mallinckrodt, a company specializing in medical imaging contrast pharmaceuticals, and hence was called the Mallinckrodt Award until this year.  As the new name implies, the award is now given in the name of the 26 clinical instructors who volunteer to provide evaluation and instruction at 6 area hospitals and medical centers for the benefit of our students.  The Clinical Instructor's Award was given during the Graduate Recognition Ceremony at the Kelsey Theatre.  Great work, Enrique!
