Alumni Spotlight: Kristen Cipolloni, A.A.S. ('11)

This feature highlights MCCC Radiography Program graduates.  This month's spotlight is on Kristen Cipolloni.  Kristen earned her associate in applied science degree in radiography in 2011.  Soon after graduation, she sat for the national certification examination in radiography administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).  Her score, 93%, placed her at the 90th percentile, meaning that she scored higher than 90% of those who took the same examination, an exceptional achievement!

Following graduation Kristen held several per diem radiographer positions.  A highlight of that experience was being part of the new medical facility, Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell.  The state-of-the-art facility "was quite a life experience," according to Kristen.

During the early part of 2012 Kristen took an interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).  Through cross training experiences offered by one of the per diem employers, she became increasingly convinced that this was the career path to follow.

Kristen's interest in MRI led to her leaving one of her per diem positions and devoting all of her time and effort completing formal schooling in MRI at Cooper Hospital's School of Diagnostic Imaging (Camden, New Jersey).  While in school, her per diem work expanded to include MRI with radiography.  In February 2013 Kristen completed her schooling and in March sat for the ARRT certification examination in MRI.  She was pleased to report having earned at 90% exam score!

Not all of Kristen's life has been devoted to work and school.  A resident of Robbinsville, NJ, Kristen enjoys outdoor activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, running, kayaking, hiking and travelings.  She shares these activities with her high school sweetheart, Matt Hewitt.  They both look forward to learning to fly, scuba dive and visit places like the Grand Canyon, South America, Africa and Australia.

In concluding this piece, we close with a quote from Kristen:

"So as you can see everything has been turning out just wonderful for me and I feel like I owe a big thank you to both of you [Professors Kerr and Petrosky] for your excellent guidance and courses.  Your program has really helped me become an outstanding technologist and I will be forever grateful.  I hope all is well at the college and that your current and future students have as great success and happiness in their future as I have."

You're welcome, Kristen!
