Comes to MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Mar. 28

2/27/09

Families are invited to take a musical journey into African-American history when Theatre IV presents "Songs from the Soul" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre Saturday, March 28 at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Presented with a mix of humor and reverence, "Songs for the Soul" is a revue of African-American music from slave songs to jazz to blues to rap. The show is not only toe-tapping entertainment, but also provides a vital history lesson that teaches pride, responsibility and respect. The songs illuminate both the past and present as audience members learn of this music's transformative impact on American culture. The show is based on a book by William Dye with music and lyrics by various artists.
