It's a clash
between a neatness nut and a slob, as MCCC's Kelsey Theatre begins
its 2008-09 Kelsey Kids Series with "The Plant That Ate
Dirty Socks." Award-winning Theatreworks/USA presents this
brand new musical based on Nancy McArthur's best-selling children's
book series on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre
is located on Mercer's West
Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
The Oscar and
Felix of a new generation, brothers Norman and Michael battle it
out in their shared bedroom as Michael's assortment of baseball
cards, crumpled papers, clothes, and piles of smelly, dirty socks
invade Norman's spotless domain. When the boys send away for "Amazing
Beans," the unexpected happens: they sprout into very large
plants that begin to devour the socks. The musical's fun-filled
twists and turns lead up to the big science fair at school, where
the boys learn valuable lessons about embracing individuality and
working together.
