Consider yourself
at home when the Yardley Players present the Lionel Bart musical,
"Oliver" at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Fridays, July
11 and 18 at 8 p.m., Saturdays, July 12 and 19 at 2 and 7 p.m.,
and Sundays, July 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located
on the college's West
Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road.
The musical is based on Charles Dickens' classic "Oliver Twist,"
the tale of a young orphaned boy who is forced from his dreary London
workhouse to an equally dreary life as an undertaker's apprentice.
Managing to run away, he is befriended by the precocious pickpocket,
the Artful Dodger. Soon the innocent Oliver unwittingly finds himself
part of an underworld network of thieves, both comic and menacing.
But Oliver is destined for a better life, if fate will allow. With
a cast of colorful characters and an award-winning musical score,
"Oliver" has captured the hearts of millions since it
was adapted for both stage and screen in the 1960s.
The "Oliver" cast stars Matthew Blazejewski as Oliver,
Andrew Clark as the Artful Dodger, Del Howard as Fagin, Jennifer
Jacob as Nancy, Joe Zedeny as Bill Sykes, Ken McCormick as Mr. Bumble,
Toni Campbell as Widow Corney, Walter Smyth as Mr. Sowerberry, Linda
Ashton as Mrs. Sowerberry, Ian Callahan as Noah Claypole, Laura
Murey as Bet, Wayne Wood as Mr. Brownlow, Jeannie LaPoll as Mrs.
Bedwin, and Dan Slothower as Dr. Grimwig.
Members of Fagin's
gang include Daniel Blazejewski, Lindsay Bohon, William Burke, Ian
Callahan, John Gallagher, Cynthia George, Jamie George, Sarah Gorski,
Kiernan Matts, Paul McGlew, Delia Monken, Samantha Phillips, and
David Szemis.
The workhouse/townschildren
include Jillian Ashcraft, Stephen Blazejewski, Naphtali Brooks,
Alexander Carr, Samantha Gougher, Ethan and Simon Hamilton, Jenn
McCormick, Dana Novikov, Kavya Pochiraju, Joey Poliziana, Caroline
Purdy, and Karlee SanGiovanni. Ensemble dancers include Marisa Desa,
Elizabeth Felkner, Laurie Gougher, Carol Henderson, Michele Kole,
Beverly Kuo-Hamilton, Kathleen Kutalek, Soloman Mason, Rose McGlew,
Gianna Miranda, Ashley Patrick, Lisa Reifschneider, Mollie Rubinstein,
Jessica Schladebeck and Amy Zalot. The show is directed by Marge
Swider with musical direction by Pat Masterson and choreography
by Paula Matthews.
Tickets
for "Oliver" are $16 adults,$14
seniors, and $12 students and children. Free parking is available
next to the theater. Tickets may be purchased online
or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333. Kelsey Theatre
is wheelchair accessible and provides assisted listening devices
upon request.
