Heather MacRae To Perform "Songs for My Father"
At Kelsey Theatre on March 23
|Mercer's Kelsey Theatre is proud to present "Heather MacRae – Songs
for My Father," a musical tribute to Gordon MacRae performed by Broadway
and cabaret star Heather MacRae for one show only on Sunday, March 23
at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's
Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Enjoy a memorable afternoon with Ms. MacRae as she artfully weaves beloved songs from her father's films with stories of growing up in Hollywood. MacRae is the winner of the 1999 Backstage Bistro Award for "Songs for My Father," which she created because of the overwhelming audience response every time she performed the songs her father made famous, such as "Surrey With The Fringe On Top" and "If I Loved You."
Heather MacRae brings her one-woman show,
"Songs for My Father," to Kelsey Theatre on March 23.
Said Ms. MacRae, "Every time I do these great songs I feel an immediate connection with the audience. Because my father is so associated with the films 'Oklahoma!' and 'Carousel' there is, of course, instant recognition. Add to that the fact that I am his daughter and there is a very special feeling that exists between me, the material and the audience. I am remembering my father and interpreting these songs in my own style at the same time. I know my dad would have been very proud; he was always supportive of my career and he would be so happy to know that I am carrying on the MacRae tradition!"
MacRae has performed both on and off Broadway, and has been featured regularly on television and in films. She is the winner of the Best Female Vocalist 1999 MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award.
