"Lust N' Rust" Captures Life in Trailer Park
At MCCC's Kelsey Theatre May 4-12

4/13/07

"We're people, and nobody's trash." So sing the residents of Rosebud Mobile Estates, the small town folks who populate the rowdym musical comedy, "Lust 'N Rust - The Trailer Park Musical," to be presented by Pierrot Productions at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Fridays, May 4 and 11 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 5 at 8 p.m., Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m., and Saturday, May 12 at 2 and 8 p.m.

Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road. An opening night reception will follow the May 4 performance to give the audience a chance to meet the cast and crew.

The cast: (standing, from left) John Kollmer, Joanna Woodruff, Laurie Hardy, Tom Bessellieu, Tamesha Hawkins, Ileana Hernandez, and Paul Saunders; (seated) Jack Bathke and John Ragazzo.

When Steve, the new corporate manager of the local food processing plant, arrives in the small town of Twister Plaines, Arkansas, he immediately becomes ensnared in the lives, loves and heartaches of the quirky residents of Redbud Mobile Estates. Their spirit is captured in the show's signature country-waltz anthem: "Here at the Redbud, you won't be impressed / Mostly we sit back and chill / Here at the Redbud, you won't get depressed / Play tunes and fire up the grill." Written with a lighthearted, affectionate touch by Frank Haney, Carol Kimball and Dave Stratton, the story nevertheless underscores more serious issues of corporate responsibility, class divisions, and tolerance. The show features 14 original songs that provide the backdrop for this wildly funny country rock musical.

The "Lust 'N Rust" cast includes: Jack Bathke as Duane, Tom Bessellieu as Red, Laurie Hardy as Janette, Tamesha Hawkins as Latisha, Ileana Hernandez as Tanya, John Kollmer as Steve, John Ragazzo as Buzz, Paul Saunders as Junior, and Joanna Woodruff as Connie.
