Greek fleet assembles in the bay of Aulis ready to launch an attack
on Troy, but the wind suddenly drops and the ships stand idle. The
army blames its leader, Agamemnon, who, in danger of losing his
command, arrives at a solution: to sacrifice his own daughter to
the Gods in return for a favorable wind. "Iphigenia in Aulis,"
written in 410 B.C., is the last surviving work of the playwright
Euripides. First produced years his death, the play won first prize
at the ancient Greek Festival Dionysia.

Hamm as Agamemnon, Damian Gaeta as Menelaus, Kyrus Westcott as Achilles,
and Deena Jiles as Clytemnestra. Also featured are Melanie Britten,

in Aulis" is directed by Louis Wells, who earned a master's
in Fine Arts from Rutgers University and has directed productions
at George Street Playhouse. The show is produced by Jody Person,
coordinator of the MCCC Drama program. In selecting the show, Person
notes that it is one of the great dramas, addressing universal themes
and helping the students to reach further as actors. "We will
update it in some ways. The Greek chorus will perform with an 'indy
folk' sound," Person said. "The actors relate to the characters
by conjuring up images of famous people in modern times in order
to make connections with the ancient world."
Tickets for "Iphigenia in Aulis" are $12 for adults, and
$10 for students and children. Free parking is available next to
the theater. Tickets may be purchased online at www.kelseytheatre.net
