World of Non-Profit Theater is Cause for Laughter
In "Inspecting Carol" at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Nov. 11-20

Join Like 40 Productions as it pokes fun at non-profit theater, annual holiday shows and wretched acting when “Inspecting Carol” comes to MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre. Dates and show times for this hilarious spoof are Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, Nov. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on Mercer’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. An opening night reception follows the Nov. 11 performance to give theater goers a chance to share refreshments with the cast and crew.

In this deliciously irreverent play-within-a-play, the Soapbox Theatre Company is hoping to avoid bankruptcy by staging its annual production of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. An inspector from the National Endowment for the Arts who holds the key to future funding is due to visit. Unfortunately, the Soapbox’s eccentric actors and inept crew are behaving badly. Cast members are mangling their lines, lights are blowing out at the wrong times, props don’t work and during Scrooge's vision of ghosts, a mariachi band suddenly starts playing. Add mistaken identities to the mix and chaos reigns.

Nick Fragale and Alycia Bauch-Cantor are featured in Like 40 Productions' hilarious spoof “Inspecting Carol.

Featured in “Inspecting Carol” are: Alycia Baruch-Cantor as Zorah Bloch, Fred Bartlett as Sidney Carlton, Eve Connolly as Dorothy Tree Hapgood, Kurt Penney as Larry Vauxhall, Stephen Pie as Phil Hewlitt, Niita Mehta as Ms. Patel, Jeremy Rapaport-Stein as Luther Beatty, Bruce Frangione as Kevin Emery, Lyndsey Potosky as MJ McMann, Diana Maurer as Betty Andrews, and Nick Fragale as Wayne Wellacre. The show is directed by Dan Spalluto. Tracy Antozzeski is stage manager.
