"Godspell" Offers Bible Teachings With Sparkling Score at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Mar. 27-Apr. 5

In the buoyant love fest known as "Godspell," the gospel according to St. Matthew is imaginatively retold with humor, music, and wisdom. Playful Theatre Productions presents this beloved musical at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre Fridays and Saturdays, Mar. 27, 28, Apr. 3 and 4 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, Mar. 29 and Apr. 5 at 2 p.m. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Mar. 27. Kelsey Theatre is located on Mercer's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Powerful and heartening lessons await audience members as the ensemble cast, dressed in circus-like attire, sings and pantomimes its way through the parables of Jesus. Among the well-known numbers are "Day by Day," "Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord," "Save The People," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts" and "By My Side." The clowning turns serious in the show's later segment as the Last Supper is touchingly portrayed.
