Benefit Winning Regional Team
3/17/09
|
Take
to the skies over Mercer County for a good cause. Faculty and flight
instructors from the MCCC Aviation program will offer scenic plane
rides at two Community Flight Fairs in April: Saturday, April 4
and Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Trenton-Mercer
Airport. (Rain dates are Sunday, April 5 and Sunday, April 26.)
The cost for the 20-minute plane ride is 25 cents per pound. (Weights
are kept confidential!) The maximum cost is $25 per person; the
minimum cost is $10. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
According to Aviation Professor Jerry Kuhl, the plane ride is a
beautiful way to see the area. Proceeds will benefit the college's
Flight Team, which took first place at the NIFA Region VII SAFECON
regional competition in the fall. The team will compete at the national
level in St. Louis, MO, in May.
The planes will take off from the college's hangar at Trenton-Mercer
Airport, located in Ewing Township. Visitors should take I-95 to
Exit 2, then follow the signs to the airport. The college's hangar
is down the road to the right of Ronson Aviation. Call (609) 530-0432
for more information.
Mercer County Community College offers an associate degree program
in Aviation Flight Technology that attracts students from throughout
the state and beyond.
