Pierrot Productions Kicks Off Kelsey Season
With "Falsettos" Sept. 28-Oct. 7

9/13/07

Pierrot Productions explores emotionally-charged territory as it kicks off the 2007-08 season at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre with the Tony-Award winning "Falsettos." Written by William Finn, it is the story of a troubled husband and father who is struggling with his sexuality, but still longs for a big, happy family.

Dates and show times for "Falsettos" are: Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 28, 29, Oct. 5 and 6 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on Mercer's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

The Falsettos cast: (back row, l. to r.) Joanna Woodruff, Ileana Hernandez, Frank Andrews, Tom Chiola (replaced by Kevin Gray), Cathy Liebars, and Dan Sloane; (front) Storm Hurwitz as Jason.

First presented on Broadway in 1992 and 1993, "Falsettos" tackles issues of loving, living, and loss, chronicling the trials and tribulations of Marvin, a man who appears to be blessed with the perfect family. He has a caring wife, Trina, and a young son, Jason. But his family falls apart when Marvin decides to leave Trina to begin a new life with a male partner, Whizzer. The distraught Trina begins a relationship with the family psychiatrist, Mendel, while Jason is left trying to make sense of it all. When AIDS enters the picture, the characters come together in unexpected ways.

Directed by Pete LaBriola, with musical direction by Chris Madison, "Falsettos" features Kevin Gray of Annandale as Marvin; Frank Andrews of Hillsborough as Whizzer; Cathy Liebars of Langhorne, PA, as Trina; Dan Sloane of Cherry Hill as Mendel; Storm Hurwitz of New Hope, PA, as Jason; Ileana Hernandez of Pennington as Charlotte; and Joanna Woodruff of Washington Crossing, PA, as Cordelia.
