Windsor, N.J. -Focusing on applicable skills and professional
growth, Mercer County Community College's Center for Continuing
Studies will offer a wide spectrum of noncredit business and
management courses this winter taught by experts in their
fields. Designed to help job seekers enhance their skill set
or take a new career direction, many courses are part of certificate
programs, but may also be taken on an individual basis. Most
classes are presented in the evening and on weekends on Mercer's
West
Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Due to limited
space, early registration is encouraged.
A
Spring Program Information Session will be held Wednesday,
Jan. 5 at 6 p.m in the MCCC Conference Center. (No pre-registration
is required.) Participants will have the opportunity to meet
staff, review course options and get expert advice.
Computer technology remains a key part of the curriculum -
from basics such as "Computer Literacy" Jan.
14-28 and "Introduction to the Operating System (Windows
XP and 7)" Feb 4-11 to the acquisition of advanced
certifications for professionals in web design, graphic design
applications and programming. Among the courses for professionals
are introductory and advanced courses in HTML, Photoshop,
Flash, and Dreamweaver. Advanced courses for JAVA
Level 2: JAVA Programming Language and SCJP Training,
Cisco Certified Network Associate, and Oracle certification
are also offered.
To
address the demand for more in-depth training in the MS
Office Suite, the center will offer expanded, 12-hour
courses, starting in January, in MS Word 2007 I, MS
Word 2007 II, MS Excel 2007 I, MS Excel
2007 II, MS Access 2007 I, MS Access 2007 II and
the Complete MS PowerPoint 2007 and Comprehensive QuickBooks.
Classes are offered in two full-day sessions or four evening
sessions. A Microsoft Excel Certification Preparation course
is presented in nine sessions from Jan. 24-Feb. 21.
The center continues to expand its online course options,
with hundreds of offerings that run for six weeks and can
be completed at any time of day or night. See the online course
