Windsor, N.J. -- The Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) at
Mercer County Community College is fast becoming one of the
"go to" places for adults seeking online classes
to enhance careers, learn new skills and pursue personal interests.
In addition to its many noncredit courses offered on MCCC's
West Windsor campus, CCS offers hundreds of affordable online
courses taught by experts in their fields. Courses are project-oriented
and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion
areas, supplementary links, and more.
CCS's initial partnership with the online teaching company
Ed2Go has grown to include hundreds of classes that start
monthly and run for six weeks. According to Read Langan, assistant
director of CCS, Mercer is one of Ed2Go's top 25 course providers
in the nation. Topics range from business management and computer
training, to health care and the legal field. Writing classes
focus on business, creative and grant writing, as well as
publishing. A full list of Mercer's Ed2Go classes is available
here.
This fall, Mercer will partner with the Learning Resources
Network (LERN) for two new online career courses. "Green
Buildings and Preparing for the LEED Green Associate Exam,"
to be offered Sept. 6-Oct. 28, will give students an introduction
to sustainability and the green building process and prepare
them to take the US Green Building Council's Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate exam.
The "Virtual Meeting Planner Certificate,"
to be offered Sept. 6-Nov. 15, will provide expertise in planning
and marketing virtual meetings and seminars, which are fast
becoming a staple of continuing education in the workplace.
Langan notes that CCS will continue to explore options to
help make learning convenient for adults. "Our goal is
to supplement our traditional on-campus classes with online
courses that adults can complete from any computer at any
time of the day or night."
