Windsor, N.J. - For those exploring new careers, planning
to reenter the workforce or seeking insights into emerging
career trends, Mercer County Community College's Center for
Continuing Studies (CCS) hosts a "Back to School Night
for Adults." This general information session will
be held Thursday, Aug. 18, starting promptly at 6 p.m. at
The Conference Center on the college's West
Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Attendees will
receive a coupon waiving the $10 fall registration fee.
During the session, CCS staff and instructors will be on hand
to offer individualized information and advice about short-term,
noncredit certificate programs and classes. Mercer's myriad
options include computer training from beginner to advanced,
business and management, health careers, and teacher education,
plus hundreds of courses available online. Many classes are
offered for continuing education credits. New this fall are
are online courses in "Green Buildings LEED
Associate Exam Prep" (Sept 6. Oct. 28) and
"Virtual Meeting Planner" certificate (Sept.
6-Nov. 15); "Introduction to the Mac" (Sept.
10-24); "Health Career Clinic" (Sept. 17-Oct.
1); "Ophthalmic Assistant" (a 50-hour program
from Oct. 11-Dec. 6); and "Understanding Tourette
Syndrome and Associated Disorders" (Oct. 24).
CCS will host three additional information sessions in August.
A session for the "Clinical Development and Regulatory
Affairs" certificate program, for those with a bachelor's
degree who are interested in careers in the pharmaceutical
field, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 5:30 p.m. On Aug.
25, starting at 5:30 p.m., an information session for the
"Veterinary Assistant" certificate program
will take place. This one-year program provides extensive
entry-level training in the field of veterinary medicine.
Also on Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m., the center will host an information
session for "New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey,"
an alternate route program to teacher certification for those
who already have a bachelor's degree.
