to Offer Workshops for Successful Job Search
Windsor, N.J. - The Career Services office at Mercer County Community
College invites current students and alumni to attend a series of
six free workshops entitled "Strategies for a Successful Job
Search." Workshops are presented by Richard Stone, of the
Stone Group, in Skillman, NJ. They begin Monday, Oct. 4, noon to 1
p.m., and will continue each Monday at noon through Nov. 8. Each session
will conclude with a question-and-answer period. Students will also
be able to schedule individual sessions with an interview coach.
According to Laurene Jones, director of Transfer and Career Services,
the workshops are designed to offer proven approaches that will help
job seekers with the search, the interview process, resume writing,
networking and more. "Given the employment picture at present,
there are usually many candidates for the same position. Applicants
need to develop ways to stand out and put their best selves forward,"
Topics include: "Where Are the Jobs; How to Find Them" on
Oct. 4; "How to 'Ace' the Interview" on Oct. 11; "Resumes
that Really Work" on Oct. 18; "Networking
Get a Verizon
Team Behind You" on Oct. 25; "The Agencies" on Nov.
1; and "Got an Offer? - How to Make It Work for You" on
adds that she hopes that staff and faculty will help spread the
word to students around campus. "This is a great opportunity
for our students to gain a solid advantage as they enter the job
market. Even if they plan to transfer before working, students should
have this background as they start thinking about careers."
All workshops will be held on the second floor of the Student Center,
SC211, on the college's West Windsor campus. For more information,
