Gangster Spoof "Bugsy Malone Jr."
Comes to MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Jan. 29-31

1/7/10

West Windsor, N.J. -- Song, dance and silliness abound as a cast of talented young actors play all the roles in the Kelsey Players' adaptation of "Bugsy Malone Jr." This wild, wacky spoof on 1920s gangster films comes to Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre on Friday, January 29 at 7 p.m., Saturday, January 30 at 2 and 4 p.m. and Sunday, January 31 at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Featuring a catchy score by Paul Williams, the composer of The Muppet Movie, the musical recalls Prohibition-era Chicago. It's the story of club owner Fat Sam and his rivalry with "business associate" Dandy Dan. Enter former boxer Bugsy Malone, a killer with the ladies and a definite asset to Fat Sam's operation. The plot thickens as Sam's girlfriend, Tallulah, sets her sights on Bugsy, while he has designs on showgirl Blousey Brown. The action culminates in a silly string battle that promises messy fun for all.

The cast includes Alec Cenci as Ritzy, Greylin Bennett as Angelo, Sarah Caldwell as Tallulah, Tim Cianfano as Fat Sam, Madelyn Curtin as Loretta, Michelle Foster as Blousey, John Glace as Knuckles, Ella Lafontant as Louella, Zach Manno as Bugsy, Selena Qureshi as Lena, Maddie Schmidt as Roxy, J. Scott as Fizzy, Robin Slothower as Tillie and Stephen Szemis as Dandy Dan.

Featured in the ensemble are: William Burke of Lawrence, Cindy George of Robbinsville, Jovan Kindred of Burlington, Katrina Meni of West Windsor, Michael Mitgang of WestWindsor, Skeyler Paparteys of Crosswicks, Samantha Phillips and Ulyana Volodin of West Windsor.

Tickets are $8 for children and senior citizens, and $10 for adults. Free parking is available next to the theater.
