So Many Ways to Say Crazy in "Arsenic and Old Lace"
At MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Oct. 6-15

9/12/06

There are no two sisters quite like Abby and Martha Brewster, two elderly ladies who are more than happy to put lonely old men out of their misery - and bury them in the basement! Join The Yardley Players as they present the macabre comedy, "Arsenic and Old Lace," at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre. Dates and show times for this American classic are: Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, Oct. 8 and 15 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's West Windsor Campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road. An opening night reception will follow the October 6 performance to give the audience a chance to meet the cast and crew.

"Arsenic and Old Lace" is the dark, yet hilarious tale of one very dysfunctional Brooklyn family circa 1940. When nephew Mortimer discovers on his wedding day that his beloved spinster aunts are actually delusional killers, he's got quite a problem on his hands. Add to that a brother who roams the house thinking he's Teddy Roosevelt, and insanity is the order of the day. First a hit on Broadway, this fast-paced comedy became an instant classic when the film version was released in 1944 starring Cary Grant and directed by Frank Capra.

The show stars Eve Connolly as Aunt Martha Brewster, Laurie Hardy as Aunt Abby Brewster and Kurt Penney as Mortimer Brewster. Also featured are Russ Weiss as Uncle Teddy Brewster, Rupert Hinton as Jonathan Brewster, Meredith McLeod as Elaine Harper, John Arrison as Dr. Einstein, Daniel Roth as Reverend Harper and as Mr. Witherspoon, John Liccardo as Officer Brody, John Jasich as Officer Klein, Mike McCallum as Officer O'Hara, Mike Almstadt as Lt. Rooney, and Leo Jablonski as Mr. Gibbs. The show is directed by Howard Matter and produced by Marge Swider.

Tickets are $12 for adults, and $10 for seniors, students and children. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333.
