Religious Drama "Angels As We Fall"
Debuts at MCCC's Studio Theatre Aug. 17 and 18

8/7/07

Featuring MCCC Theatre grads and current students, "Angels As We Fall" retells one of the oldest religious stories with a contemporary spin. Michael and Lucifer are brothers - seeking, suffering and doubting. No less than the future of God and mankind hang in the balance. This premiere event comes to the MCCC Studio Theatre Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. The Studio Theatre is located next to Kelsey Theatre on Mercer's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Directed by Daniel Spalluto, this debut production by playwright Josiah DeAndrea is set before the dawn of man and chronicles the tale of brothers and rivals Michael and Lucifer. Lucifer is growing restless with perfection. Then he experiences the ultimate bliss of love with a beautiful young angel. But with this discovery comes a new capacity for causing suffering and pain. As Lucifer's quest for knowledge causes him to sink deeper into darkness, Michael tries desperately to stop him. These are angels with raw human emotions, grappling with issues of love, happiness, and desire.

The show's talented cast includes the playwright and MCCC graduate Josiah DeAndrea as Lucifer, Damian Gaeta as Michael, Post Midnight as God, Michelle Wood as Gabriel, Julie Moorman as Samael; Ricardo Hearns as Raphael, Julian Somogyi as Asmodai; and Bene Williams as Asmodai's Temptation. Many of the cast members are graduates or current students of the MCCC Theatre program.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance through the Kelsey Theatre Box Office at 609-570-3333 or at the door. (Due to some language and scenes with violence, the show is intended for mature audiences.)
