West Windsor, N.J.– Mercer County Community College Professor of Visual Arts and Program Coordinator Michael Welliver will be featured in the next show at Ellarslie, the Trenton City Museum.
The exhibit is called “Breath of Fire” and is an all-clay show that showcases work created by twelve artists in the greater Trenton region, including New York City and Philadelphia. Participation was by invitation.
Welliver has created a series of pieces that are elegant in their simplicity. "While made on a potter’s wheel, they are not about pottery," he said. "By eliminating function, one focuses on pure form."
The show runs from March 5 through April 30. The opening reception is Sunday, March 6, 4 to 5:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public. Details are available at www.ellarslie.org or by email at email@example.com.
An additional MCCC artist, Ingrid Jordan, who has taught as an adjunct professor at Mercer for many years, is featured in the show as well.
"Mercer is well represented. We are especially pleased, given the college's history in Trenton and the role that Mercer has played in educating many artisans who have come from the city," Welliver said. "It is an honor to be selected."
