West
Windsor, N.J. - Nearly twenty student volunteers from the
MCCC Television Program worked the Mercer County High School
Basketball Finals, which were held Feb. 24 in the MCCC Gymnasium.
Live coverage lasted more than 3 ½ hours.
According to Television Program Assistant Professor Steve
Voorhees, "The students did a magnificent job and were
praised by tournament officials." He notes that Tournament
Director Gary Bushelli was especially impressed with students'
efforts and "was very grateful."
In addition
to the many fans who watched the games on television, Mercer
also offered an overflow room in the Communication Building
so that those who arrived too late to get a seat in the gym
could still watch the broadcast.
"I'm
very proud of the students' professional level of work,"
Voorhees said. "It takes a lot of dedication and volunteer
time to achieve this level of success. Everyone worked together
as a team and, by supporting each other, succeeded together
as a team."

With
limited seating for the many fans who want to watch the games, this
annual project of Mercer's Television Program has become a true
community service, Voorhees added.
As
part of his commentary on the finals, the Trentonian's L.A.
Parker wrote in his March 1 column, "Kudos to Mercer County
Community College for hosting the high school doubleheader
A
second congratulations to MCCC security and West Windsor police
officers, who applied a perfect tone and pace of crowd that made
for an enjoyable evening."
