Mercer County Fire Academy Graduates 23

West Windsor, N.J. – On June 18, the Mercer County Fire Academy, which is directed by Mercer County Community College (MCCC) at Dempster Fire Training Center, celebrated the graduation of 23 firefighters. 

According to James McCann, Director of the Fire Academy, the group completed the 180-hour New Jersey Firefighter 1 training program and passed the exam administered the N.J. Division of Fire Safety to become State-certified firefighters.

Participating in the ceremony were MCCC Dean of Business and Technology Winston Maddox, Mercer County Business Administrator Andy Mair, Mercer County Firemen's Association President Harvey Bailey and Mercer County Fire Chiefs Association Vice President Dave Burns. Local fire chiefs also attended.

“These graduates completed a training program that is both academically and physically rigorous," McCann said. "They are truly prepared to be on the front lines with their local fire companies. It's gratfiying to know that these dedicated professionals will serve on the front lines in protecting their communities."

The class drew students from 12 fire companies around the region. Graduates include Richard Agabiti of the White Horse Fire Company; Marc Anderson of the West Trenton Fire Company;  Brian Angelucci of the Mercerville Fire Company; Stepan Bezkorovaynyy of the Slackwood Fire Company; Nicholas Byrne of the Groveville Fire Company; Benjamin Chaisson of the West Trenton Fire Company; Justin Gahrmann of the East Brunswick Fire Company, District #1; Nicholas Hogan of the White Horse Fire Company; Marc Katronetsky of the Kendall Park Fire Company; Neil Kumar of the Pennington Fire Company; Shaurya Luthra of the Princeton Junction Fire Company; Anand Matta of the Princeton Junction Fire Company; Thomas Meyers of the East Brunswick Fire Company, District #1; Andrew Nagle of the Princeton Fire Company; Matthew Nagley of the Union Fire & Rescue Company; Robert Powell of the East Brunswick Fire Company, District #1; Kevin Quinn of the Princeton Fire Company; Robert Quinn of the Princeton Fire Company; Michael Restoccia of the Slackwood Fire Company; Andrew Ridolfi of the White Horse Fire Company; Drew Rothfus of the East Brunswick Fire Company, District #1; Alec Rudenstein of the Lawrence Road Fire Company; and Steven Sommer of the East Brunswick Fire Company, District #1.

In addition to directing the Mercer County Fire Academy, MCCC offers an A.A.S. degree in Fire Science Technology, and certificates in Fire Code Enforcement and Fire Officer/Administrator.
