Five arts alumni from Mercer County Community College will exhibit their work in a group show entitled “Mercer Family and Friends.” The show opens Saturday, May 2 and continues through Friday, May 29 at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County library system. (The library is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike at the corner of Business Route 1 and Darrah Lane in Lawrenceville.
The show features the watercolors of Sue Karrais Beym and Margaret Simpson, and Giancarla Macaluso’s sculptural fusion of clay and metal. Helene Plank’s jewelry and button mosaics will be on display, as well as Bill Plank’s acrylics paintings. A reception with the artists will be held Sunday, May 3 from 2 to 4 p.m.
According to artist Helene Plank, the idea for the show began with all five artists reconnecting on Facebook. The common thread among them is that all studied art at MCCC.
Library hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (The library will be closed from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25 in observance of the Memorial Day weekend.)
