Alum Ashleigh Donaldson Heading to Columbia
University to Study Physical Therapy

West Windsor, N.J. – When Ashleigh Donaldson ’12 (A.S., Biology) thinks about her time at Mercer County Community College (MCCC), she recalls “many incredible people, both students and faculty alike, whose dedication to and passion for learning was enormously inspiring.”

So inspiring, in fact, that Ashleigh went on to complete her bachelor’s degree from Stockton College in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in May 2014 and will head to Columbia University this fall to earn her doctorate in Physical Therapy.

“Mercer definitely helped to prepare me for future challenges. I had the tools I needed to succeed when I transferred to Stockton,” she said.

Donaldson expresses her gratitude for the many lessons she learned from all her MCCC professors, but reserves a special place for Professor of Chemistry Carlo Alfare.  “His love and incredibly expansive knowledge of his subject sparked my interest in chemistry. He changed the course of my life."

Donaldson also recalls her large circle of MCCC friends. “I will never forget the amazing times I spent with my peers and friends on Mercer's campus and the numerous programs I got involved with through Student Activities,” she said.
